    Cadenza Repertoire

The choir's repertoire covers a wide range of periods and styles of music, from Renaissance church music, classical choral works, Christmas carols and traditional Scottish songs, to contemporary music of all types, including jazz, folk songs and close harmony arrangements of popular music. The Edinburgh Festival concert usually includes one of the larger religious choral works such as the Faure or Mozart Requiems.

Cadenza are also keen to promote new music: we have already successfully commissioned and performed "Three Chorales of Struggle" by Scottish composer Eddie Maguire; and for the Festival concert in August 2003, the choir gave the first performance of "O Columba" specially commissioned from Ken Johnston and based on mediaeval chants derived from the Inchcolm Antiphoner. Along with other fresh material, this featured on Cadenza's second CD "Voices of Joy", released in August 2004 .

During the last 5 years, since Spring 2001, Cadenza has performed the following pieces. They are listed in the chronological order in which the choir first performed them during this period. In many cases, the pieces have been performed again at later concerts but, for brevity, they are not repeated in the list.
